The Program for Elders

Many people in their golden age feel useless, bored, lonely and unappreciated. A big reason for it comes with losing their freedom of movement. Many of them also did not take care of their body at younger a age, thus pains, poor posture and years of negligence have accumulated. However we also must remember that many did not have the chance or the knowledge of practicing body awareness.

The Asanas we will practice during the classes will be restorative, calming, and rejuvenating. We will be using more props to make ourselves comfortable in the Asana, so we can stay in them a little bit longer than we usually could. To stay in an Asana for a longer time, allows us to lengthen our muscles and thus to improve our flexibility. A physical freedom of movement, what we also call flexibility, is accompanied with mental flexibility; we feel less "stuck", less dependent. Another important reason for staying in an Asana for a longer time gives us the opportunity to first observe our breath and than to Be our breath. This is a highly calming state of mind, and therefore also curative. We will also practice Asanas that synchronize movement with breath in order to improve our coordination and blood circulation.

"Your body exists in the past and your mind exists in the future.
In Yoga, they come together in the present."
